I am really proud of the learning environment and team that we have created, I believe that children should be allowed to be children, to learn and develop at their own pace, but given the opportunity to give it a go in a warm, caring, safe place. I am passionate about the environment and am excited to have the opportunity to grow and develop the centre with the children, learning skills together that will have an impact on the world in which we live. The children call me “Mr Justin”, and I love having the time to play in the sandpit, read stories, and generally getting involved in the day to day fun. I am also the maintenance dept and administration clerk, although I try not to let these tasks impact on my fun

I moved from the UK in 2005 with my wife Mel and two children Jack and Alex. There I was a business consultant, something I still do (in my spare time!). I enjoy reading, gardening, fishing, skiing and spending time with my family

Kia ora. Ko Mel Fletcher tōku ingoa.

Hi my name is Mel Fletcher and I completed my Batchelor of Teaching and Learning (Early Childhood) at the University of Canterbury in 2010. It has been a long held dream of mine to be a teacher and I love working with 2 to 5’s. I am originally from England where I was an accountant, so being a teacher is quite a change! I moved to Aotearoa with Justin and our two boys Jack and Alex in 2005. I am sports mad and I enjoy watching and playing a variety of sports including soccer, swimming, netball and skiing. I also enjoy gardening and reading as well as spending time with my boys.

I believe that children should be allowed to be children and be supported to take risks and give things a go. I have an interest in sustainability issues and hope to develop sustainable practices in the centre.

I am currently working on my Masters Thesis focussing on transition to school. I look forward to getting to know you and your family during your time at Bright Horizons pre school.

I am really excited about being team leader here at Bright Horizons pre school. I live in Oxford with my husband and three children. We love the rural lifestyle and find Oxford a great place to bring up a family.

I have been teaching just over ten years, training initially as a primary school teacher and then gaining my pre school qualification. I love the three to five age group and the different ways they learn.

I like drama, music, and dance and hope to have lots of fun with the children in these areas of the curriculum as well as encouraging the children with some amazing investigations as we follow their interests.

Marie Hubbard

My name is Marie Hubbard and I have been teaching in Early Childhood Centres over the last 9 years. I moved to New Zealand in 2003 from the UK and have lived in Oxford for 13 years. I have two children of my own; Evie and Amelia.

My teaching philosophy is that I believe that all children should have the chance to participate in quality early education settings. Children learn through play and from the environment around them; we as adults have the opportunity to help teach children new skills and vice versa, adults learn new and interesting skills from children. I believe that given the resources, time and space, children will become confident, competent life long lovers of learning. I believe that our natural world plays an important part  in our children's future and I really enjoy using natural resources and equipment in my teaching

Nikki Warwick

I have recently completed my teaching degree. I moved to New Zealand in 2007 with my husband and 3 daughters and we are settled in Oxford. I love working at Bright Horizons getting to know the children and working as a part of the team. I enjoy the outdoors and this forms a strong base for my teaching philosophy.

Hi, I’m Sarah Evans.

I live in Kaiapoi with my husband, Matt and my daughter, Harper who is 2. As a first time Mum I am enjoying watching her grow and I can already see she is going to be cheeky and determined. I am also discovering how different it is to be looking at things from a parent perspective instead of a teacher’s perspective.

I have a Bachelor of Education ECE and have been working with infants and Toddlers for the last 6 years. I am passionate about supporting children to be curious, to experiment and to learn about the world around them.

I am looking forward to getting to know you all.
